Calico Ranch is a family-run apple and pear orchard located near the historic town of Julian. The farm has remained in production since it was first planted in the early 1930's. The Young family has owned the 30 acre orchard for more than nineteen years.  As one of the last remaining apple orchards in the Julian area where the public can enjoy the fun of picking their own fruit, Calico Ranch offers the possibility of a unique family experience.
Hours of Operation - Our 2011 season has come to an end. Thank you all who came up to Julian to visit us this year. We hope that Mother Nature will co-operate next year and we will have an abundant crop of delicious crisp apples for everyone to enjoy. We have some picnic tables available under our huge shady oak trees, so feel free to bring a lunch. You are also welcome  to  take some pictures in the orchard with our scarecrow family. For those of you that would like to pick apples the "easy" way, we will have a good variety each week available in our front stand that we pick daily from our back orchard for your convenience. We hope to see you all next season (usually the first weekend in October) at Calico Ranch for the wonderful family experience of picking your own genuine Julian apples.

About Our Apples - More than 130 varieties of apples are grown on-site as well as several varieties of pears. At Calico Ranch, we implement an integrated pest management system which is a safer, minimized and wiser use of pesticides and herbicides. We offer a different variety off apples and pears each weekend depending on which become ripe at that particular time of the season. Whether you come for the U-Pick experience or just to visit our Easy-pick fruit stand, we hope that your visit will be a memorable one.

Getting There - Take Hwy 67 or 78 through Ramona to Santa Ysabel.  Proceed through Santa Ysabel to Wynola.  Watch for signs on the left after Wynola Pizza.  We are located on Hwy 78 before Calico Ranch Road. If you are using a Nav system, enter Calico Ranch Rd at Hwy 78. Come and see us when you visit Julian.

Thank you,  The Youngs
